The Other Two ending after 3 seasons amid allegations of toxic behind-the-scenes environment

Adults are failing LGBTQ youth at school and beyond. Heres how we can step up

Image
Think back to when you were a teenager. While this time in our lives can often be filled with new experiences and self-discovery, it can also be deeply challenging and sometimes even painful. Time stretches on forever. You don’t have the full slate of freedoms that most adults take for granted. You are stuck in a microcosm of the real world, spending a good part of your life in a classroom with other young people doing their best to fit in – and feeling like you’re failing in some way.  These challenges of adolescence are even more acute for LGBTQ+ youth, who face an uphill battle to find acceptance in a world that often condemns the beauty of diversity and in many cases seeks to deny their very existence. Even before COVID-19 sent us into seclusion for the better part of the last three years – with  devastating mental health consequences  for many – LGBTQ+ youth were  experiencing higher rates of depression  and other forms of mental illness due to higher rat...

Nebraska State Senator Megan Hunt, one of three lawmakers who ground legislative business in the state to a halt with a months-long filibuster protesting an anti-trans bill, has filed a defamation lawsuit against a far-right lobbying group that accused her of being a “groomer.” “These malicious and false lies about Hunt had vicious consequences,” the complaint states, and made her fear for her and her child’s physical safety. Supreme Court rules in favor of Christian postal employee who wanted Sundays off

Image
A unanimous Supreme Court decision today asks a lower court to re-examine the right of employees to force their religious beliefs on co-workers and the customers they serve. While the decision leaves the issue open to further court scrutiny, it also leaves open the possibility of anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination in businesses and workplaces. In the case of  Groff v. DeJoy , the court ruled in favor of Gerald Groff, a U.S. Postal Service (USPS) worker who, due to his Christian evangelical religious beliefs, wanted an exemption from working on Sundays. His refusal to work “imposed on his co-workers, disrupted the workplace and workflow, and diminished employee morale,” the court wrote in its ruling . Queer Indonesians cant celebrate Pride in public. But theyre still doing it behind closed doors

Image
When hundreds of people marched together under the collective banner of Women’s March Jakarta last month, issues beyond gender equality in Indonesia were brought to the surface. With banners and placards, Indonesians at the vibrant event called out discrimination against minority groups, urged for better political representation for women and marginalized communities, and celebrated diverse identities.  The solidarity was so strong that the presence of colorful Pride flags fit right in.  Related Stories How LGBTQ+ people can protect their mental health during a traumatizing Pride season June is usually a celebration for the LGBTQ+ community, but this year many have found it challenging.
