George Santos’ “lying, grifting” life may soon be a major movie

It looks like former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) will have his scandalous life story immortalized in film.
Barely 24 hours after Congress kicked Santos out, Deadline reported that HBO Films is developing a film based on Mark Chiusano’s book, The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos. Chiusano’s book was released late last month.
Santos shot back with an accusation that Max Miller is a “woman-beater.”
The screenplay is being written by Mike Makowsky, the screenwriter behind the 2019 school embezzlement drama Bad Education, and executively produced by Frank Rich, who worked on the HBO satirical political series Veep and the HBO familial corporate drama series Succession.

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s homoerotic 1925 novel The Great Gatsby follows a wealthy millionaire who is dishonest about his past. Santos has admitted to fabricating large parts of his personal history during his election campaign. He is currently facing 23 federal charges of campaign finance fraud.
“Why would I want to stay here? To hell with this place,” Santos said immediately after the vote. C-SPAN removed Santos’ name plaque from his Capitol office door shortly after the vote.
Gay Asian actor Bowen Yang has regularly portrayed Santos on the weekly sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live. It’s unlikely that he’ll be considered to portray Santos in a dramatic film.

The U.S. Census Bureau, after nearly a year of pushing the Biden administration, will begin testing questions pertaining to LGBTQ+ identity on its American Community Survey (ACS). These questions would ask people about their sexual orientation and gender identity. The Bureau put out a Federal Register notice signifying that this is the last chance for the public to give comment on all pending ACS questions, including those pertaining to LGBTQ+ individuals. The deadline given for comment is May 30, with an online form provided for any feedback on these questions. The wording for these questions can be found on the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs website . After the Bureau’s deadline, it will be submitting the questions to the Office of Management and Budget, where they will await approval for testing in the summer. Conservatives were already upset about Target over its LGBTQ+-inclusive Pride collection. But now they’re angry over fake AI-generated images that show the store selling “Satanic” clothing. The images show kids wearing clothes with inverted pentagrams and goat heads and a store display with a red, goat-headed mannequin. The images were created by Facebook user Dan Reese with the AI program Midjourney, Reuters reported . A Target spokesperson told the publication that it “has never sold” the pictured items, and the items aren’t available on the store’s website.
